The Fijian Government is making significant strides in enhancing healthcare services across the nation, ensuring that facilities are equipped to provide safe, reliable, and accessible care to all citizens. This initiative is bolstered by the partnership with EqualMed, a U.S.-based non-profit organization that has been working alongside Fiji’s health sector for over ten years.

Recently, Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa, has actively participated in site visits to various health facilities with the EqualMed team. These visits took place in Navua, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring that donated medical equipment reaches the frontline facilities that can benefit the most from these resources.

To date, EqualMed has generously contributed over $5 million worth of medical supplies to hospitals and health centers nationwide. Notably, in September of the previous year, the organization delivered a substantial 40-foot container filled with medical equipment valued at approximately $1.1 million, which includes vital items such as wheelchairs, walkers, and thermometers intended for widespread distribution.

Ravunawa emphasized that the collaboration with EqualMed is crucial in enhancing healthcare delivery and strengthening Fiji’s ability to respond to patient needs effectively. This partnership not only underscores the importance of international collaboration in health but also reflects a hopeful commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services in Fiji, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for all Fijians.
