Officers from the Fiji Navy, Water Police Unit, and Fiji Revenue and Customs Service celebrated their graduation last week after successfully completing their Boat Master Licence (BML) and Restricted Master Engineer Licence Class 6 (RMEL6) training.

The event was graced by Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua, who emphasized the crucial support of UK International Development and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), underscoring that maritime security is a significant national priority for Fiji. Lieutenant Colonel Sophie Waters from the United Kingdom also attended the ceremony, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in enhancing maritime capabilities.

The training took place at the Stanley Brown Naval Base in Lami, marking a significant step towards bolstering Fiji’s maritime security framework. With enhanced skills and qualifications, these officers are now better equipped to address maritime challenges, ensuring safer and more secure waters for all. This initiative not only strengthens Fiji’s national security but also fosters positive international relations in the region.
