Fiji Government Roadshow Expands to Western Australia to Serve the Fijian Diaspora

The Fiji Government Services Roadshow has successfully strengthened connections with Fijian communities across Australia by bringing essential government services directly to members of the diaspora. Organized by the Fiji High Commission in Canberra in partnership with various ministries and government agencies, the roadshow commenced on 25 September 2025 in Uluru, marking a culturally significant starting point in Australia.

His Excellency Ajay Amrit, Fiji’s High Commissioner to Australia, led the delegation, making history as the first Fijian Head of Mission to visit the Barkly region. During this visit, he engaged with Fijians residing in remote communities, recognizing their vital contributions to both Fiji and Australia.

The roadshow provided numerous services, including consular assistance, voter registration, and Vola ni Kawa Bula (VKB) enrolment. Thousands of attendees also took part during the Fiji Day celebrations held in Brisbane and Sydney, where Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated.

Following its success in Uluru, the roadshow is set to continue to Western Australia from 18 to 26 October, including stops in Port Hedland, Broome, Albany, Bunbury, and Perth. This ongoing initiative aims to enhance the accessibility of government services for Fijians abroad and foster stronger ties between the diaspora and their homeland.

Fijians living in Australia are encouraged to participate in future sessions, take advantage of available government services, and engage in insightful discussions with the visiting delegation. The roadshow symbolizes not only a commitment to improving the welfare of the Fijian community abroad but also a promise of ongoing connectivity and support from their government.

This outreach is part of a broader effort by the Fijian government to enhance its relationship with citizens living overseas, echoing similar successful initiatives in other countries like the UK. As the Fijian diaspora continues to thrive and contribute to their homeland, the government’s proactive approach is a positive step towards establishing deeper, meaningful connections with its citizens worldwide.
