Fiji Golf Tournament Brings Thrilling Competition and Community Spirit

The Fiji Golf Club held its monthly medal tournament yesterday at its picturesque Vatuwaqa course, attracting an impressive turnout of 105 players.

Among the participants was Frank Chan, a member of the club since 2010, who noted the high level of competition. “This is one of those tournaments where we compete with the best in the clubs,” Chan remarked.

He explained that all players competed from the black tees, which are typically designated for professional play. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Chan was optimistic about the players’ performances, stating, “It’s a big field today, and despite the weather, we’re doing well. This monthly medal is all about pushing ourselves to play to our handicap or even better.”

Chan also emphasized the social benefits and physical activity associated with golf, saying, “Apart from the competition, it’s a bit of rest and relaxation, as well as a great way to get some exercise.” He encouraged individuals from all backgrounds to consider taking up the sport, highlighting its inclusivity.

The tournament results showcased the following winners: for the Men’s overall gross, Isei Verevakabau triumphed. In A Grade, the top three were Eddie Yuen, Arvind Sharma, and Steve Vincent. Jitendra Mohan, Shaun Hwang, and Shailendra Prakash took the top spots in B Grade. In C Grade, the winners were Ryan Kumar, Dedy Rahmato, and Nathan Kirk.
