Ninety golfers are set to compete in the monthly medal stroke event today at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, as reported by sponsorship chairman Mohammed Buksh. The competition, sponsored by Die Xin Construction Ltd, will feature a mix of experienced players and enthusiastic youths.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m., though its success largely depends on favorable weather conditions. Buksh mentioned that the event could be postponed if the weather is not suitable for play. He noted that last week’s Fiji Cancer Society charity golf competition enjoyed good weather, which significantly contributed to its success.
Buksh also pointed out that despite facing tough competition from other events across the country this weekend, several club members are eager to participate in today’s competition. The involvement of young golfers is particularly promising, showcasing a dedication to fostering the sport’s growth and development. “It’s great to see the youths being part of the competition, learning and growing the sport all the way,” he stated.
The support from Die Xin Construction Ltd has been essential in making this event possible, and gratitude was expressed for their commitment to promoting the game and ensuring opportunities for all participants.
Overall, this event is not only an opportunity for competition but also a chance for young players to engage with the sport, nurturing future talent within the golfing community. With supportive sponsors and community involvement, the future of golf in Fiji appears bright.
