The Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa was alive with energy as it hosted its weekly Stableford tournament yesterday, sponsored by Mali Pest Control. A group of 70 golfers participated in this one-day event, showcasing their skills in a friendly competition that drew participants of all ages.
Alvin Nair, an attendee, noted the high level of play, crediting the perfect weather conditions as a key factor in making the tournament enjoyable. “Many members arrived early today because the weather is excellent, making it more playable,” he said, highlighting the positive impact of the environment on the event.
Nair also praised the friendly atmosphere among the participants, emphasizing the camaraderie that develops during such gatherings. “It’s great because when we return to the clubhouse, it feels like we’re enjoying social activities with friends,” he added.
Encouraging the next generation of golfers, Nair called on young enthusiasts to take up the sport and join competitions. “We always encourage junior golfers to participate and enjoy the experience, and it’s wonderful to see them attending events like this,” he stated.
Looking ahead, the East vs West tournament is scheduled to take place today, bringing together experienced golfers from across the nation for another exciting day of golf.
This event not only promotes golf as a sport but also fosters community spirit and friendships among players, making it a significant occasion in the local sporting calendar. The emphasis on encouraging young golfers suggests a positive future for the sport in Fiji.
