Club captain Zavir Khan outlined these transformative plans in a recent report, which emphasized substantial investments in renovations to the clubhouse and upgrades to the golf course.

Key features of this initiative include improving drainage, replacing turf, and acquiring essential equipment like a digger, tractor, and new golf carts. Khan is optimistic that these enhancements will elevate the golf course to international standards.

The improvements to the clubhouse are notable, with upgrades in lighting and security, as well as a refreshed outdoor appearance, leading to an increase in rental revenue. The club has also benefited from billboard rentals, generating $3,665 monthly, and has reduced security costs, saving $1,800 each month.

Khan reaffirmed that nurturing budding talent remains a priority for the FGC, highlighted by the relaunch of the Junior Open tournament, which is expected to become a staple in the golf Fiji calendar. Support for junior development is further bolstered by McDonald’s sponsorship of $5,000, which aids in fostering young golfers and ensuring a prosperous future for the sport in Fiji.

The club is currently managing a responsible $250,000 loan, and early returns from new income streams are evident, indicating positive financial management and sustainability. The recent introduction of new golf carts has been well-received by members, with plans to expand the fleet in the future.
