Ninety golfers are set to compete in the monthly medal stroke event at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa today, as announced by sponsorship chairman Mohammed Buksh. The event, sponsored by Die Xin Construction Ltd, will feature a mix of seasoned competitors and enthusiastic youths.
The tournament is scheduled to commence at 8 AM and will continue until 1 PM, with its success largely hinging on favorable weather conditions. Buksh noted that if the weather does not cooperate, the event may need to be postponed. “It truly depends on the weather; if it’s good, we will proceed, but if not, we might have to reschedule,” he stated.
Buksh added that last week’s Fiji Cancer Society charity golf competition enjoyed favorable weather, and he expressed hope for similar conditions today. He mentioned that despite other competitions occurring across the country this weekend, many club members are prepared to take part in this event.
The involvement of younger players is particularly encouraging, reflecting a dedication to fostering growth in the sport. Buksh commented, “It’s fantastic to see the youths participating in the competition, learning, and developing through the sport.”
Much appreciation is extended to Die Xin Construction Ltd for their vital role in organizing the event and enabling broad participation.
This tournament not only serves as an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to compete but also emphasizes the importance of youth development within the sport, ensuring a bright future for golf in the region.
