Payments for services at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) can now be made through the M-PAiSA mobile wallet, following a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between FRCS and Vodafone Fiji. This integration allows M-PAiSA users to make payments using QR Pay at all FRCS branches and Container Freight Stations (CFS) nationwide.
FRCS CEO Udit Singh stated that this step aligns with the organization’s strategic vision of becoming more digitized and future-oriented. He emphasized that technology plays a crucial role in the transformation of service delivery. The new payment option facilitates cashless transactions for taxes, duties, and VAT payments, significantly enhancing user experience and accessibility across Fiji.
With over 500,000 registered M-PAiSA users and 4,000 business outlets accepting the service, the platform provides a user-friendly and secure alternative to carrying cash. Shailendra Prasad, General Manager of Digital Financial Services at Vodafone Fiji, noted that the integration of FRCS into their payment system represents a growing trend among businesses and government entities adopting M-PAiSA for payments.
This development is part of a broader movement towards a cashless society in Fiji, a shift that builds on previous integrations of M-PAiSA into the national payment system, giving users the ability to conduct seamless money transfers between banks and mobile wallets. The ongoing enhancements in digital financial services signal a hopeful trajectory for financial inclusion, aiming to empower more Fijians to participate in the economy.
As this trend continues, the expectation is that these advancements will lead to improved economic activity, greater accessibility to financial services, and an increased quality of life for all citizens. The integration of M-PAiSA into FRCS operations represents a significant leap forward in creating a more efficient and inclusive financial landscape for Fiji.
