A remarkable total of 249 applications have been submitted for the 15 categories in this year’s Prime Minister’s International Business Awards (PMIBA). Organizers at Investment Fiji anticipate that over 700 delegates will gather for the event, set to take place tomorrow evening at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Investment Fiji’s CEO, Kamal Chetty, expressed his excitement over the substantial response to this year’s awards, highlighting how the record-breaking interest underscores the significance of PMIBA within the business community and the growing recognition of Fijian enterprises on the international stage.

The PMIBA serves as a vital platform to celebrate the accomplishments of Fiji’s leading businesses and inspire aspiring entrepreneurs in the future.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka noted that the awards acknowledge those who have faced challenges head-on and are leading efforts toward a more sustainable future. He emphasized the Fiji Government’s support for businesses committed to innovation and sustainability, recognizing their contributions to national economic growth while maintaining a focus on environmental and social responsibility.

With the theme “Innovation & Sustainability,” the PMIBA 2024 aims to honor businesses of all sizes across various sectors that have demonstrated success through their efforts to amend strategies and embrace sustainability.

Attendees can look forward to networking opportunities with industry leaders, government officials, and other distinguished guests. This year’s awards introduce four new categories: Employer of the Year, Excellence in Fisheries, Excellence in Forestry, and Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration. Overall, the event features a total of 15 categories.

Hopeful and positive, the PMIBA continues to light the path for Fijian businesses, encouraging innovation and sustainability, which are crucial for the future of the nation’s economy and environment.

This event not only recognizes current achievements but also inspires the next generation of entrepreneurs, creating a ripple effect for lasting change and growth within the Fijian business landscape.
