The Fijian Government has expressed its commitment to supporting the Fiji National Rugby League as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2024 Pacific Championships. Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, reaffirmed this support during a recent visit from FNRL chairman Akuila Masi and his team.
The visit was intended to provide the Minister with updates on the plans and initiatives in place for the prestigious event, which is scheduled to take place over four consecutive weekends in October and November across four different countries.
Notably, this will mark the first time Fiji will host matches in the Pacific Championships, expanding the event’s influence within the region. Besides Fiji, the matches are set to occur at Santos Stadium in Port Moresby, as well as in Brisbane, Christchurch, Auckland, and Sydney.
The Fiji Bati, currently ranked sixth in the world rugby league standings, is expected to announce its team for the championship either on Friday or, at the latest, by next Wednesday.
