Fiji Gears Up for Epic Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship!

The Fijian Government has pledged $1.3 million to facilitate the hosting of the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Suva. The announcement was made by Permanent Secretary Meli Nacuva during the official opening ceremony held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

This event marks a significant milestone for Fiji, attracting participants from leading weightlifting countries such as India, England, Malaysia, Singapore, Wales, Canada, and Sri Lanka. The competition is expected to host over 210 participants from 25 nations, featuring a week of intense activities at the Vodafone Arena.

Nacuva highlighted the core values of discipline, perseverance, and determination that weightlifting promotes, urging the Fijian community to support the athletes. He also expressed appreciation to all athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and sponsors for their commitment to ensuring the event’s success.
