Team Fiji is in the midst of its preparations for the upcoming 2025 Pacific Mini Games, with only a month left before their departure scheduled for June 27-28. Chef de mission Josaia Tuinamata reports that the training schedules for the athletes are progressing smoothly and that he is confident in the team’s readiness.

As part of the lead-up to the Games, Team Fiji has organized various events, including a team assembly on May 7 and an i-tatau (traditional welcome) to the Minister for Youth and Sports on May 11. The official opening of the Pacific Mini Games is set for June 29, with the team expected to return home after the closing ceremony on July 9.

A contingent of 186 members will represent Fiji across 12 sporting disciplines, including archery, athletics, baseball, basketball, para-athletics, para-table tennis, swimming, triathlon, va’a, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, and weightlifting. The delegation comprises 73 male and 63 female athletes, along with team officials and support staff.

This year, the preparation phase appears more robust than ever, reflecting the positive momentum from Fiji’s athletic community. The announcement of the finalized team lineup has generated excitement, especially following strong performances in past trials, such as the Coca-Cola Games, which highlighted standout athletes poised to excel in Palau.

The Pacific Mini Games will not only serve as a competitive platform but also as a crucial opportunity for Fiji’s emerging talents to shine while raising national pride. With intensified training and community support, this collective effort demonstrates a hopeful outlook for Fiji’s representation, promising a spirited display at an international level.
