Fiji Gateway Hotel is set to enhance its facilities with the construction of a new two-storey accommodation building to meet the growing demand from travelers passing through Nadi. The expansion project is scheduled to start this month and is expected to be completed by October next year.

According to the hotel, the new development will introduce 47 additional guest rooms and suites, comprising 44 deluxe rooms and three two-bedroom suites, all designed to provide scenic views and modern amenities. Lee Pearce, the CEO of Raffe Hotels and Resorts, the parent company of Fiji Gateway, mentioned that the new accommodation will further boost the hotel’s attractiveness to both leisure and business travelers.

Pearce noted the hotel’s ongoing high occupancy rates, emphasizing its strategic location and tropical ambiance, which make it a favored choice for travelers, especially those visiting other properties within the group, such as Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Island Resort in the Mamanucas Islands. He expressed excitement over the project, stating that it reflects Raffe Group’s dedication to promoting tourism in Fiji, with the new accommodations expected to become available by mid-spring 2025.

The new building will be constructed on an unused portion of the existing property, which will aid in minimizing disruption to the hotel’s current character and guest experience. This expansion plan will increase the total number of rooms at the hotel from 95 to 135, with plans to retire several older rooms as part of the modernization efforts.

After completing the new block, Pearce mentioned that some outdated rooms would be phased out to make way for fresh landscaping and new pathways, ensuring a seamless connection between the new accommodations and the hotel’s main reception and dining areas. He indicated that Fiji has seen a significant rise in visitor numbers in recent years, which is expected to continue into 2024, particularly during peak months like June and July. This growth highlights Fiji’s status as a leading travel destination, making the timing of the expansion at Fiji Gateway Hotel especially crucial.
