Fiji Gateway Hotel is set to broaden its accommodations with the construction of a new two-storey building, aimed at meeting the growing demand from travelers passing through Nadi. The project is scheduled to start this month and is anticipated to be finished by October next year.
The development will introduce 47 additional guest rooms and suites, comprising 44 deluxe rooms and three two-bedroom suites, all equipped with modern amenities and offering rural views. Lee Pearce, CEO of Raffe Hotels and Resorts, the parent company of Fiji Gateway, mentioned that the new facilities would enhance the hotel’s attractiveness to both leisure and business travelers.
“Fiji Gateway Hotel has consistently maintained high occupancy rates,” said Mr. Pearce. He attributed the hotel’s popularity to its strategic location and tropical ambiance, particularly for visitors heading to the group’s nearby properties, Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Island Resort in the Mamanucas Islands. He expressed excitement over the upcoming rooms, which are expected to be ready by mid-spring 2025, thanks to Raffe Group’s dedication to Fiji’s tourism sector.
The new accommodation will be built on an unused part of the property, ensuring that the hotel’s existing character and guest experience remain unaffected. The expansion will increase the hotel’s total room count from 95 to 135 next year, while plans are also in place to phase out several older rooms as part of a modernization initiative. Mr. Pearce indicated that these updates would include fresh landscaping and new pathways that will create smooth access between the new rooms, the hotel’s main reception, and dining areas.
He noted that Fiji has seen a significant rise in visitor numbers over recent years, with this trend expected to continue into 2024, particularly during peak months like June and July. This growth highlights Fiji’s lasting allure as a premier travel destination, making the timing of the Fiji Gateway Hotel’s expansion especially relevant.
