FIJI Gateway Hotel is set to expand its facilities with the construction of a new two-storey accommodation building to meet the rising demand from travelers passing through Nadi. The project is slated to kick off this month and aims for completion by October of the following year.
The new development will introduce 47 guest rooms and suites, comprising 44 deluxe rooms and three two-bedroom suites, all featuring views of the countryside and modern amenities. Lee Pearce, CEO of the hotel’s parent company, Raffe Hotels and Resorts, noted that the new accommodations will enhance the hotel’s appeal for both leisure and business visitors.
According to Mr. Pearce, Fiji Gateway Hotel has consistently maintained high occupancy rates. The hotel’s prime location and tropical aesthetic make it a popular choice for travelers, especially those visiting the group’s other resorts, Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Island Resort in the Mamanucas Islands. He expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting Raffe Group’s commitment to Fiji’s tourism industry, with plans to launch the new rooms by mid-spring 2025.
The new building will be situated on a currently unused section of the property, ensuring that the hotel’s existing character and guest experience remain mostly unaffected. The expansion will increase the total room count from 95 to 135, while also facilitating the decommissioning of several aging rooms as part of the hotel’s modernization efforts.
Following the completion of the new building, some of the older rooms will be removed to enable fresh landscaping and new pathways, creating seamless access between the new accommodations and the hotel’s main reception and dining areas.
Mr. Pearce mentioned that Fiji has witnessed a notable rise in visitor numbers in recent years, with promising growth anticipated into 2024, especially during peak months like June and July. This trend reinforces Fiji’s status as a leading travel destination, making the timing of the expansion at Fiji Gateway Hotel especially relevant.
