Fiji Gateway Hotel is set to enhance its facilities with the construction of a new two-storey accommodation building to meet the growing demand from travelers passing through Nadi. The expansion project, which is starting this month, is anticipated to be finished by October next year.
According to a company statement, the new development will introduce 47 additional guest rooms and suites, including 44 deluxe rooms and three two-bedroom suites, all featuring scenic rural views and modern amenities.
Lee Pearce, the CEO of parent company Raffe Hotels and Resorts, noted that the new accommodations will further boost the hotel’s appeal for both leisure and business travelers. He stated that Fiji Gateway Hotel has consistently maintained high occupancy rates, thanks to its prime location and tropical atmosphere, which attract visitors to other Raffe properties, including Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Island Resort in the Mamanucas Islands.
Excited about the new rooms’ launch in mid-spring 2025, Pearce highlighted Raffe Group’s ongoing commitment to Fiji tourism. The new building will occupy an unused section of the property, ensuring that the hotel’s current ambiance and guest experience remain undisturbed.
With the expansion, the hotel will increase its room count from 95 to 135, although several older rooms will be retired as part of this modern upgrade. Pearce explained that after the completion of the new block, some outdated rooms will be decommissioned to allow for improved landscaping and new pathways that will connect the new accommodations with the main reception and dining areas.
He remarked on the remarkable increase in visitor numbers in Fiji over recent years, noting that the trend is expected to continue into 2024, especially during peak months like June and July. This growth, according to Pearce, highlights Fiji’s status as a premier travel destination, making the timing of the expansion at Fiji Gateway Hotel particularly important.
