Fiji Women’s Futsal coach Jerry Sam is calling on his team to increase their intensity ahead of their upcoming match against New Zealand, following a 4-0 victory over Tonga that left him wanting more. Despite securing a solid win in their second OFC Women’s Futsal Championship match, Sam criticized the team’s performance for lacking the necessary speed and urgency to compete with tougher rivals.
“We had a bit of a slow start with the mindset that, you know, whoever plays Tonga starts off very slow. This is something we don’t want to happen in the next game, and we have to consider that,” Sam stated. His frustration was evident during the match as he paced the sidelines, urging his players to elevate their efforts and generate more scoring chances.
Sam is confident the team possesses the talent and capability to perform better, and he is eager to see them unleash their potential on the court. The upcoming match against New Zealand promises to be a more significant challenge, scheduled for tomorrow at 4 pm at the Friendship Hall in the Solomon Islands.
