Thirty-four officers from the Western Division, consisting of doctors, nurses, health inspectors, lab technicians, and ASPEN personnel, have successfully completed the Disease Outbreak Response Training 2025. This comprehensive training program was expertly facilitated by the Fiji Centre for Disease Control along with the Environmental Health Unit, receiving invaluable support from the World Health Organization.
The primary aim of the training is to equip participants with critical, hands-on skills necessary for the early identification and management of communicable disease threats, particularly during heavy rainfall and flooding, scenarios that often heighten the risk of outbreaks.
Key aspects of the training included enhancing surveillance techniques and data analysis, performing accurate laboratory tests, implementing effective clinical management strategies, and coordinating robust public health interventions. This initiative not only strengthens the capability of health professionals in the region but also fosters a proactive approach to public health challenges, ultimately aiming to protect communities from potential health crises.
The completion of this training marks a significant milestone in bolstering the region’s preparedness against disease outbreaks, fostering a healthier and safer environment for all.
