Fiji Foreign Affairs Goes Digital: 13 New Websites Launched!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently launched a total of thirteen newly rebranded websites, including a main site for the Ministry and twelve for its overseas Missions. These websites are designed to be highly interactive and informative, focusing on user experience.

During the launch, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua stated that this project aims to improve service delivery and foster real-time connections between Fiji’s Missions abroad and their customers. She emphasized that the revamped websites demonstrate the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging digital tools to enhance Fiji’s diplomatic presence by providing timely information regarding multilateral and bilateral engagements, while also focusing on generating economic returns for the country.

A significant feature of the new website is the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal,” which allows Fijians living overseas to register with the Ministry. This portal is intended to gather important data that will guide crucial policy decisions and interventions, particularly during emergencies and crises.

Qereqeretabua noted that the new website will serve as a comprehensive source for information on the Ministry’s initiatives, including Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s concept of the Pacific as an Ocean of Peace, and the establishment of Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy.

Fijians around the world can now access “Citizens Connect and Consular Services” through the new websites, facilitating processes like passport renewals and bookings. The improved features will also enable citizens to contact their nearest Mission for assistance and consult with staff. Additionally, diaspora members can stay updated with the latest news and advisories from Fiji’s Missions.

Furthermore, the new website allows the Ministry to inform users about its services while also receiving feedback, giving citizens the opportunity to share their thoughts on improving services.

The websites for Fiji’s two Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, five High Commissions in countries including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India, and Papua New Guinea, and five Embassies in Indonesia, Japan, the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates, all offer easy access for Fijians to learn about the Ministry’s work abroad.

The new websites are accessible through the domain www.foreignaffairs.gov.fj.
