14-year-old Adi Ulamlia Reva has earned her place in the final 22-member squad of the Fiji National Women’s team, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning football career. Her selection fulfills a long-held dream not only for her but also for her father, Filimoni Lagivala Nale, a former Tavua football player who never reached national representation during his playing days.

Reva, originally from Ba, previously showcased her skills with the Fiji U-16 team. Her impressive journey from grassroots football to the senior national team is a testament to her talent and dedication. “I started playing football when I was in year four,” she said. “I went through FIFA for schools, then went to the all-star academy, then the national U15, U16, and this is my first senior camp.” Despite being the youngest in the squad, she views the competitive environment as an opportunity for growth.

The Fiji Kulas are set to depart for Papua New Guinea to play two FIFA friendly matches—one on Thursday and the other on Sunday. These matches are crucial as they provide Reva and her teammates an opportunity to display their skills and further their development in preparation for forthcoming competitions.

In addition to Reva’s selection, the Fiji National Women’s team has seen significant representation from clubs across the country, particularly Ba, which has contributed a notable number of players currently engaged in leagues, including those in the OFC Women’s Championship. The commitment to enhancing women’s football in Fiji is evident through the rigorous training and support from the Fiji Football Association.

As the season continues with the Fiji FACT kicking off soon, fans and supporters are encouraged to rally behind the national team. The enthusiasm for women’s football in Fiji is on the rise, presenting an optimistic future for aspiring female footballers looking to make their mark on the international stage. The journey of young talents like Adi Reva is not only inspiring but also a beacon of hope for many young athletes across Fiji.
