The Chief Executive of the Fiji Football Association, Mohammed Yusuf, has announced that 21 out of 180 players tested positive for illegal substances during the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) held at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This represents a significant rise from the seven positive cases reported last year.

Yusuf stated that players who tested positive have been suspended and will face proceedings from the Fiji FA Disciplinary Committee. The penalties for first-time offenders include a three-month suspension and a fine of $200, which must be paid by both the player and their district.

Second-time offenders will receive a three-year suspension and a $500 fine, while repeat offenders also face a three-year suspension and the same $500 fine, applicable to both the player and their district. The disciplinary committee will review these cases and may modify the penalties as deemed necessary.
