The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to make a grand comeback after a three-year break, offering a total of 14 esteemed awards. This year’s event, backed by a new sponsor, Extra Supermarket, is anticipated to be more spectacular than ever.
Fiji FA’s chief executive, Mohammed Yusuf, emphasized the significance of this gala event, mentioning that it will bring together the football community and honor the remarkable contributions of players, coaches, teams, officials, and volunteers throughout Fiji’s football landscape. He urged all 20 clubs affiliated with the Fiji FA to submit nominations, ensuring that the hard work of their members is recognized.
Yusuf highlighted the importance of participation, saying, “We encourage clubs to participate and ensure their stars shine at the awards night.” This year’s ceremony will also introduce new categories, aiming to acknowledge a broader spectrum of contributions in Fiji’s football ecosystem.
Among the awards this year are Footballer of the Year (both Male and Female), Young Footballer of the Year (both Male and Female), Futsal Player of the Year (for both genders), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year.
These expanded categories are designed to celebrate the diverse achievements across football and futsal, while also recognizing the essential roles played by administrators, coaches, referees, volunteers, and employees in fostering the sport’s growth in Fiji.
The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 is scheduled for December 1 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi, promising a night of celebration and recognition for all individuals who have significantly contributed to the sport.
This event marks a hopeful resurgence for Fiji’s football community, as it not only acknowledges individual and team successes but also strengthens the bonds within the sport, paving the way for continued growth and development in the future.
