The Fiji Football Association is set to hold its 87th Ordinary Congress this weekend, which could see several new vice-presidents elected. Mohammed Yusuf, the Fiji FA chief executive, announced that the congress would take place on Friday at 10 AM at their headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva. Notable candidates include former vice-president and businessman Aiyaz Musa, along with Ritesh Pratap, Rayaz Khan, Shailendra Prasad, Max Chetty, Jiten Kumar, and Moin Ali, all of whom have been nominated.

Yusuf mentioned that although nominations have closed, the governance committee would review candidate eligibility before making any announcements. The Fiji FA will elect six vice-presidents to ensure representation from the South, West, North, and a dedicated women’s representative. The current vice-presidents include Jitendra Kumar, Girja Prasad, Jitendra Reddy, Edwin Chand, Yogeshwar Singh, Naziah Ali-Krishna, and Susan Wise, who represents women.

Coinciding with the congress, the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT will commence immediately afterward at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The opening match on the first day will feature Nadi against Nadroga at 12:30 PM, followed by a match between Navua and Lautoka at 2:30 PM. The day will culminate with a highly anticipated game where Rewa will challenge Ba at 4:30 PM, leading to Suva facing Labasa at 7 PM.

This election heralds a significant moment for Fiji football, as it seeks fresh leadership that can influence the future of the sport positively. With experienced individuals stepping forward, there is a hopeful outlook for the growth and development of football in Fiji.
