The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to make a grand return after a three-year absence, featuring 14 prestigious awards to be presented. This year, the event has gained support from a new sponsor, Extra Supermarket, which aims to elevate the occasion to new heights.
Fiji FA’s chief executive, Mohammed Yusuf, emphasized the significance of the gala night, stating that it will serve as a unifying event for the football community, celebrating the hard work of individuals and teams associated with the sport. He urged all 20 Fiji FA-affiliated clubs to actively submit nominations to ensure that their dedicated players, coaches, officials, and volunteers receive well-deserved recognition.
Yusuf stated, “We urge all clubs to send in their nominations for the hard work of their players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.” He encouraged clubs to participate, ensuring that their stars shine at the awards ceremony.
This year’s event will introduce several new categories designed to celebrate a broader spectrum of contributions within Fiji’s football landscape. The awards will include recognitions such as Male and Female Footballer of the Year, Young Male and Female Footballer of the Year, Futsal Player of the Year (both Male and Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year.
“The expanded categories aim to recognize a wider range of achievements across both football and futsal,” Yusuf noted. “We will acknowledge the vital roles played by administrators, coaches, referees, volunteers, and employees in the development of the sport in the country.”
The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 is scheduled to take place on December 1 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi, promising a celebration that highlights the achievements and dedication of individuals across all areas of the game.
This event not only signals a revival of recognition for those in the football community but also fosters hope and enthusiasm for the advancement of sports in Fiji. It could lead to increased participation and support for football, contributing to the overall growth of the game in the region.
