The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have ascended to 9th place in the World Rugby rankings after a notable victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final. Head coach Mick Byrne stressed the significance of the tournament for nurturing the next generation of Fijian rugby talent.

Byrne remarked, “It’s a great opportunity for us in the PNC to select a good bunch of young players.” He also recognized the invaluable contributions of senior players from last year’s World Cup and indicated that changes are on the horizon.

“Over the next few years, some of those players will be replaced, and the sooner we can get the younger ones into the test arena, the better it is for the future of the team and for Fiji Rugby,” he stated.

The triumph not only reinforces Fiji’s potential but also underscores the promising careers of many players on the squad, who are still in the early phases of their professional rugby developments.
