The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have moved up to 9th in the World Rugby rankings after a strong victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final. Head coach Mick Byrne highlighted the significance of the tournament in nurturing the next generation of Fijian rugby talent.
Byrne expressed, “It’s a great opportunity for us in the PNC to select a good bunch of young players.” He recognized the efforts of veteran players from last year’s World Cup but also suggested that changes are forthcoming.
He noted, “Over the next few years, some of those players will be replaced, and the sooner we can get the younger ones into the test arena, the better it is for the future of the team and for Fiji Rugby.”
