The Fiji Water Flying Fijians are focusing on improving their discipline ahead of their second Test match against Wales as part of the Autumn International series on Monday. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula emphasized that the team has been working diligently to address the disciplinary issues highlighted during their recent game against Scotland, where they received two yellow cards for players Frank Lomani and Apisalome Vota.
Armstrong-Ravula stated, “We’ve been putting ourselves in various scenarios. I don’t think anyone would be going out there to do that so it’s pretty unlikely, but we’re just training hard.” With Wales seeking to break a winless streak for the year, Armstrong-Ravula noted that the team is treating this match as just another opportunity to compete, maintaining focus week by week.
Reflecting on their historical matchup, Armstrong-Ravula recalled their last encounter during the Rugby World Cup in England, where Fiji narrowly lost 26-32 to Wales. However, he remains optimistic, pointing to the changes in the team, including a new coach and players, as key to their redemption efforts. “That (the loss) was last year, and now we’ve got a new team, a new environment and a new coach, so we’re just looking forward to Monday and (to) train harder,” he said.
Fiji will face off against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales at 1:40 AM.
This match presents a valuable opportunity for the Flying Fijians to not only bolster their skills but also to showcase their growth as a team. Their commitment to discipline and training could lead to a more cohesive performance on the field. With the right mindset and preparation, the Flying Fijians are poised to make a strong showing against their Welsh opponents, turning their past challenges into stepping stones for future success.
