The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has issued an important warning in light of the recent heavy rainfall that has caused significant flooding in various locations across the Western Division. Numerous roads and crossings have become inaccessible, prompting the FRA to urge motorists and road users to take extra precautions while traveling.
Among the areas affected are several critical crossings and roads that have been closed to traffic due to safety concerns. The Katudrau Crossing on Vatumani Road, Narara 1 Crossing on Narara Road, Saru Back Road, and multiple crossings on Vaivai Road and Navula Road in Lautoka are currently flooded and impassable. Additionally, Buabua Road has been reduced to a single lane due to road width restrictions, and Kings Road at the Field 4 Road junction has reported surface flooding. Vunisamaloa Road in Ba is also affected and remains inaccessible.
The FRA advises the public to steer clear of flooded areas whenever possible and to follow alternative routes to ensure their safety. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, reduce their speed, and comply with traffic advisories in regions impacted by flooding.
As communities come together to navigate these challenging conditions, it’s paramount that residents prioritize safety and remain informed about road access. The authorities are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as conditions improve.
