Fiji Finance Minister Battles Corruption Allegations: What’s Next?

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has announced that his lawyers have formally responded to allegations made by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). In a conversation with FijiLive, Professor Prasad shared that his legal team is managing the situation and maintaining communication with FICAC. He opted not to provide further comments. This statement comes as FICAC has indicated plans to charge him on Thursday. Additionally, FICAC has sent a notification to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Attorney General Graham Leung, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga regarding their intentions to charge Professor Prasad.
