The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association (FSSAA) has announced a new schedule for the 2025 Fiji Finals, now set for Thursday, April 24, to Saturday, April 26. This change addresses a scheduling overlap with a Super Rugby match, specifically the Fijian Drua’s home game against the Reds, which was originally planned for the first week of May.
On February 3, the FSSAA communicated with the Ministry of Education to address the scheduling conflict. In response, the Ministry confirmed the new dates, allowing the Fiji Finals to take place without clashing with the Drua’s match.
This adjustment is reminiscent of a similar decision made in 2023 when the Fiji Finals were also moved from their traditional May dates to late April to avoid conflicts with other prominent events. The proactive collaboration between the FSSAA and the Fijian Drua is commendable, as it ensures that both events can be celebrated by fans without interference.
As schools prepare for inter-house competitions leading up to the finals, this early resolution aids in effective planning and community engagement. The partnership between the FSSAA and the Fijian Drua exemplifies a strong commitment to fostering sportsmanship and enhancing the local sporting landscape, promising an exciting experience for both athletes and supporters.
