The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team displayed an outstanding performance, defeating Great Britain 24-5 in their final group match at the HSBC Hong Kong 7s, thereby securing a spot in the cup quarterfinals.
Great Britain initially took the lead with a try, leading the match at 5-0. However, Fiji quickly responded when Mereula Torooti made an impressive 80-meter dash, getting tackled just short of the try line. Ilisapeci Delaiwau was perfectly positioned to score, leveling the match at 5-5.
Fiji’s Lavena Cavuru then electrified the crowd with her agility, scoring the team’s second try, converted successfully to put Fiji ahead 12-5. Cavuru continued to shine by scoring again before halftime, bringing the score to 19-5, showcasing her exceptional skills.
Throughout the game, the Fijiana maintained strong set-piece plays, consistently creating opportunities to score.
