Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) is set to bring its expertise in high-caliber event management to the 69th Hibiscus Festival, scheduled from September 20 to 27 in Suva. Approached by the Hibiscus Committee for their exceptional skills in staging productions and coordinating events, FJFW’s involvement promises to add an elevated festival experience, particularly in the realms of fashion and queen coordination.

FJFW managing director Ellen Whippy Knight expressed her excitement for this collaboration, highlighting the event as a dream project. She emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering creativity, professionalism, and an enhanced festival for both contestants and audiences. Meanwhile, Tevita Boseiwaqa, the committee chairman and acting CEO, shared his optimism for the festival, especially valuing FJFW’s immaculate track record in executing polished productions.

The Hibiscus Festival is a significant cultural event in Fiji, known for its role in empowering young women and providing a platform to tackle community issues like drug awareness and homelessness. With the involvement of FJFW, expectations for this year’s event include heightened quality and innovation, particularly in the Queen’s program, a prestigious component of the festival.

Beyond the beauty and pageantry, the week-long celebration will host an array of activities such as cultural displays, food stalls, music performances, and community events, culminating in a grand showcase of Suva’s vibrancy as a cultural hub. The festival has historically served as a rite of passage and a platform for young women aspiring to lead and inspire in their communities.

Looking forward, FJFW’s participation is set to introduce innovative elements, building on the festival’s legacy and amplifying its stature as a key cultural event in Fiji and the Pacific. This collaboration promises to not only enhance the festival’s appeal but also reinforce the collective Fijian pride in cultural representation.
