Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) is set for a historic launch of its 2025 season on May 3 at the newly renovated Arts Village in Pacific Harbour. This marks the first time the venue will host such a significant event, which is expected to deliver a captivating mix of culture, storytelling, and creativity through fashion.
Ellen Whippy-Knight, managing director of FJFW, emphasized the importance of honoring Fiji’s cultural legacy during the event. “It is extremely critical that FJFW does not lose sight of our culture, of who we once were, as that has shaped who we are today,” she stated. This year’s show aims to reflect the evolution of traditional Fijian attire and express the collective story of the nation through fashion.
Fashion enthusiasts visiting the Arts Village can look forward to an evening filled with splendid runway presentations and engaging cultural performances. Guests will be taken on a journey that connects Fiji’s past, present, and future through the lens of fashion, promising an authentic Fijian experience that intertwines creativity with rich narrative.
This event not only showcases the talents of local designers but also strengthens Fiji’s position in the global fashion industry, following recent showcases in international markets like Sydney. As noted in past events, FJFW remains committed to elevating Fijian craftsmanship, highlighting the unique fusion of traditional motifs with contemporary designs that capture international attention and promote cultural pride.
Through this initiative, Fiji continues to pave the way for its designers to gain recognition on both local and global platforms, offering hope for the future growth and sustainability of the Fijian fashion industry.
