The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has reaffirmed its dedication to community support through the distribution of $64,000 from profits earned during the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT tournament. Announced at a recent council meeting, each of the eight participating district teams will receive $8,000, illustrating Fiji FA’s commitment to reinvest in local football.
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel noted the tournament’s success in terms of digital engagement and public interaction, generating over $100,000 in total profits. Notably, over $17,000 from ticket sales has been directed towards WOWS Kids Fiji, a charity that supports children battling cancer. Since 2022, Fiji FA has contributed more than $30,000 to the foundation through its events, with $1 from each ticket sold going towards this noble cause.
Patel emphasized that these contributions reflect Fiji FA’s core values and responsibility to give back to the community, stating that they remain focused on supporting both on-field performance and community welfare. The association aims to sustain this positive momentum in future tournaments, continuing to enhance transparency and community engagement.
In light of recent staffing changes, Fiji FA has also advertised the head coach position for the men’s national football team, after the departure of previous coach Rob Sherman, as the organization looks to prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2030 qualifiers.
The efforts of Fiji FA underscore a bright outlook for football in the region, demonstrating both a solid commitment to nurturing local talent and support for crucial community initiatives. This positive trajectory reveals a promising future for football in Fiji, inspiring both current and aspiring players while fostering a sense of unity and purpose within the sport.
