As Fiji welcomes the year 2025, families nationwide are taking the opportunity to reflect on the past year and embrace fresh beginnings. In Wainibuku Nakasi, Esita Ranamila shared her family’s vibrant New Year celebration that symbolized a new chapter while acknowledging the trials faced during 2024.
Ranamila expressed her family’s gratitude for overcoming challenges together, as some siblings traveled from different regions to unite and commemorate the occasion. “We’re excited for the new year and focusing on building a family home for our parents,” she said. The family reflects on the valuable lessons learned in 2024 and is dedicated to making the most of their time together.
Seeking a break from their daily routines, the family chose the Suva Picnic spot to bond and enjoy a special day. Celebrating with love and togetherness, they indulged in a traditional lovo lunch, highlighting the joy of shared experiences.
In Labasa, Ana Maraia, 35, spent New Year’s Day at the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool with her children. Ms. Maraia emphasized that it’s important to spend quality time with kids, especially during school breaks, to strengthen family bonds. Ravikash Chand, the pool manager, noted it as the only public pool in Labasa, promoting a safe and enjoyable environment for families. He encouraged parents to utilize the facility to teach their children crucial water safety skills.
As the New Year starts, families across Fiji are continuing to prioritize togetherness and personal growth, focusing on creating memorable experiences and fostering stronger relationships.
This shared spirit of hope and determination suggests that the communities in Fiji are committed to nurturing their familial ties, looking to the future with optimism. Each celebration, whether big or small, contributes to a brighter outlook for families ready to face new challenges together.
