In Wainibuku Nakasi, Esita Ranamila shared the joy of her family’s New Year celebration, which symbolized a new start after the challenges faced in 2024. Ms. Ranamila expressed thankfulness for having overcome obstacles together, as some siblings traveled from the western regions and the highlands to unite for the occasion.
“We’re looking forward to the new year and are determined to build a family home for our parents,” Mr. Ranamila shared, emphasizing the lessons learned throughout 2024 and their commitment to maximizing precious family time.
The family opted for the Suva Picnic spot as a gathering place, allowing them to escape their daily routines and enjoy a special day together.
In Labasa, Ana Maraia, a 35-year-old mother from Nadogo, Macuata, celebrated New Year’s Day with her children at the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool. “It’s a peaceful, safe place where we can enjoy each other’s company,” she remarked, underscoring the significance of quality time with one’s children, particularly during school holidays.
Ravikash Chand, the manager of the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool, noted that it is the only public pool in Labasa, which offers various activities and a secure environment for families. He urged parents to take advantage of the pool to instill water safety skills in their children.
