Ms. Ranamila voiced her appreciation for their family’s resilience in overcoming obstacles, as siblings traveled from various regions to reunite and commemorate together. “We’re excited for the new year and focusing on building a family home for our parents,” Mr. Ranamila noted, emphasizing their commitment to making the most of the time they have together.

In Labasa, Ana Maraia, 35, from Nadogo, Macuata, celebrated the New Year at the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool with her children. “It’s a peaceful, safe place where we can enjoy each other’s company,” she stated. Highlighting the significance of spending quality time with children, she underscored the importance of strengthening family ties, especially during school holidays.
Ravikash Chand, the manager of the Gurbachan Singh Swimming Pool, emphasized its role as the only public pool in Labasa, offering various activities in a family-friendly environment. He encouraged parents to utilize the space to teach their children important water safety skills.
