The Fiji Men’s Development team narrowly missed victory in the final match of the 2024 Oceania 7s tournament held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, losing 17-12 to Samoa after extra time.
Samoa started strong, taking a 5-0 lead into halftime. They increased their advantage early in the second half. However, Fiji rallied back, showcasing their resilience and determination to equalize the score. A critical moment came when Iosefo Namoce scored a try that tied the match, but a missed conversion attempt by Solomoni Rauqe from a straightforward position sent the game into extra time.
After the restart, Samoa quickly claimed the winning score, sealing their victory. In another match, Tonga secured third place by defeating Tuvalu 24-19 in extra time.
