Fiji Faces Wet November: What to Expect?

The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a rainfall outlook predicting very wet conditions for several regions, including Labasa, Udu Point, Lomaiviti Group, Koro, Matuku, Rabi, and Ono-i-Lau, from November 15 to November 28. This forecast is part of the Early Action Rainfall Watch, which serves to inform the Fiji National Disaster Management Office and relevant disaster management bodies about recent rainfall trends and what to expect in the upcoming months.

Throughout November, areas such as Rokovou, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, Lomaiviti Group, Koro, Moala Group, and Ono-i-Lau have a medium chance of experiencing significant rainfall. Furthermore, the forecast extends to cover months from November 2024 to January 2025, indicating a similar medium likelihood of very wet conditions in the Western and Central Divisions, Nabouwalu, Kadavu, Gau, Nairai Island, and Ono-i-Lau.

These insights are crucial for local communities as they prepare for potential adverse weather conditions while providing an opportunity to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall.
