The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has issued a notice to customers located in areas that frequently experience high turbidity linked to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant. Residents should be prepared for possible disruptions in their water supply due to severe rainfall.
The current heavy rainfall is expected to compromise water quality in the source streams, which will pose challenges for effective water treatment and distribution. Consequently, WAF is anticipating a decrease in water production at the Tamavua facility.
Several neighborhoods may face these service interruptions, including:
– Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent
– Mead Road, covering Volavola Road, Evetts Place, and Top Shop Road
– Elevated areas along Lakha Singh Road, particularly Sakoca Road
– Elevated regions along Tacirua Road, including Raibevu Road and Tacirua Heights
– MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction
– Princes Road from Joes Farm to Sawani Service Station
– Upper Delanivesi Areas, along with Upper Areas of Lami Village Road, Kalekana Settlement Road, and Muaivuso Village
WAF’s teams are currently monitoring the situation and are committed to managing production levels around the clock to mitigate the impact on the water supply.
This proactive communication from WAF is crucial for residents to prepare adequately and manage expectations concerning their water needs during this heavy rain event. While these conditions may cause temporary frustration, the commitment of WAF to ensure water quality and service continuity is a reassuring sign of their dedication to the community.
In summary, as heavy rains affect water quality, residents in specific areas should prepare for possible supply disruptions, but they can take comfort in WAF’s ongoing monitoring and management efforts.
