A heavy rain warning has been issued for the western half and interior of Viti Levu, the Northern Lau Group, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups in Fiji. This warning is attributed to an active trough of low pressure that is currently generating clouds and rain in the northeastern regions of the country.

Additionally, meteorologists are keeping an eye on tropical disturbance system 01F, located approximately 450 km West-Northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and moving southeast at a speed of 10 km/h. The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that the chances of this system developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours remain low.

As the trough of low pressure continues to influence weather patterns, heavy rain is expected to begin later today across the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, the Northern Division, the Northern Lau Group, and the western half and interior of Viti Levu.

This weather development highlights the importance of staying informed about local meteorological updates, especially in the context of tropical weather systems. Residents are encouraged to prepare for wet conditions and to follow any safety advice issued by local authorities.

Overall, while the situation may seem concerning, the potential for a tropical cyclone is low, offering some reassurance to residents as they monitor the weather conditions.
