Fiji experienced a significant defeat, losing 9-1 to New Zealand in their third match of the OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup held in the Solomon Islands.

Having previously secured wins against Tahiti and Tonga, the team, coached by Jerry Sam, encountered a much stronger and more confident opponent, finding themselves down 5-0 by halftime.

Fiji’s only goal came in the second half from Koleta Likuculacula, who has now scored four goals in three matches.

With this loss, Fiji will take a break for recovery, while New Zealand is set to play against the host nation, the Solomon Islands, on Thursday.
