The Fiji Meteorological Service has announced that several regions in Fiji, including Labasa, Udu Point, Lomaiviti Group, Koro, Matuku, Rabi, and Ono-i-Lau, will face significantly wet conditions from November 15th to 28th. This information comes from the Early Action Rainfall Watch, designed to provide the Fiji National Disaster Management Office and other disaster management stakeholders with insights into recent rainfall trends and future projections.
For the month of November, there is a moderate likelihood of similarly wet weather affecting additional areas such as Rokovou, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, the Lomaiviti Group, Koro, the Moala Group, and Ono-i-Lau. Looking ahead, the forecast from November 2024 to January 2025 suggests a medium chance of wet conditions across the Western and Central Divisions, including Nabouwalu, Kadavu, Gau, Nairai Island, and Ono-i-Lau.
This rainfall outlook highlights the importance of preparedness as communities may face challenges due to increased precipitation. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential impacts from the heavy rainfall.
As the weather patterns shift, it’s also an opportunity for local farmers to adapt their planting schedules to benefit from the expected rainfall, potentially leading to a fruitful growing season.
