A heavy rain warning has been issued for the entire Fiji group. According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, an active trough of low pressure, accompanied by clouds and rain, is currently lingering over the northeastern regions of Fiji. Additionally, Tropical Disturbance [01F] is located approximately 450 kilometers West-Northwest of Yasawa-i-rara and is moving Southeast at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

Residents in the coastal areas of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Northern Lau group, Yasawa, Mamanuca group, and the western half and interior of Viti Levu—including Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki—should prepare for northwest to southeast winds, with speeds averaging between 35 and 50 kilometers per hour, and gusts potentially reaching up to 65 kilometers per hour starting later tonight.

The forecast indicates that occasional rain is expected to become more frequent and heavy throughout the day, accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the western half and interior of Viti Levu. Other areas across the Fiji group may also experience occasional showers, which are anticipated to increase in frequency and intensity from tonight.

As the country prepares for the potential impacts of heavy rainfall, it is important for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

In summary, the heavy rain warning underscores the importance of preparedness in the face of adverse weather conditions, and communities are encouraged to follow updates from local meteorological services.

This situation presents an opportunity for the community to come together and support one another during challenging weather events, reflecting the resilience and solidarity that often shines through in times of adversity.
