A heavy rain warning is currently in effect for the entire Fiji group, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service. An active trough of low pressure is lingering over northeastern Fiji and is projected to continue affecting the region until Monday.

In addition, another trough of low pressure is expected to approach Fiji starting tomorrow. Residents can anticipate a resurgence in rainfall beginning later tonight, particularly over Viti Levu. This increased precipitation may be accompanied by localized heavy downpours and thunderstorms, raising the risk of flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Areas included in the heavy rain warning encompass the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Northern Division, the Ra-Rakiraki region, Northern Ba-Ra, interior Ra, Naitasiri, Serua-Namosi, interior Ba, interior Nadroga/Navosa, as well as greater Suva, Nausori, and Tailevu areas, along with Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

This weather pattern serves as a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of preparedness. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and coordinate with local authorities to avoid potential hazards related to flooding. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, Fiji’s resilience as a community shines as individuals come together to support one another during such events.
