A severe rain warning has been issued for the Fiji group as the Nadi Weather Office announced that an active trough of low pressure is moving in from the North. This weather system is expected to impact the region later today, bringing occasional heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The most intense conditions are anticipated in the northern parts of Fiji, with heavy rain spreading across the country by tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office also cautions that significant localized rainfall could result in flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. In addition to the widespread rain, isolated thunderstorms are likely to occur in the southern and interior regions of Viti Levu, affecting areas such as Sigatoka, interior Nadroga-Navosa, Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri, southern Bua, and Cakaudrove.

As the region braces for these weather conditions, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and prepared for potential flooding and disruptions. Local authorities are likely to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that safety measures are in place to protect the community. Despite the expected heavy rain, such weather systems also play a vital role in replenishing water supplies critical for agriculture and daily life.

In summary, Fiji faces a significant weather event with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted, prompting necessary precautions for residents in affected areas.
