Fijians are being warned to prepare for increased rainfall in the coming days, which may lead to flash flooding. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain alert for the Northern Division, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups. This warning also encompasses the western and northern regions of Viti Levu, specifically the areas from Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki.

According to the meteorological authorities, ongoing weather patterns, including a trough of low pressure, are bringing cloud cover and rain to the western and northern parts of Fiji. This weather system is expected to gradually extend to the rest of the country by tomorrow.

The forecast indicates occasional rain, which could be heavy at times, along with the possibility of thunderstorms affecting the Northern Division, Yasawa, Mamanuca Groups, Viti Levu, and nearby smaller islands. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, wet roads, and reduced visibility.

This scenario underlines the importance of monitoring weather updates and taking precautions, especially for those living in vulnerable zones. Communities can also take proactive measures to safeguard their properties and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.

In a positive light, such weather events also highlight the resilience of Fiji’s communities and their ability to adapt and respond to natural challenges. The authorities often mobilize quickly during such times to ensure safety and aid those affected.

Overall, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and prepared as the weather situation develops.
