Fiji Faces Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Warnings as Rotuma Braces for Strong Winds

Weather Update from Your Friendly National Weather Forecasting Crew

Hello, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and life jackets because we’re in for quite the splashy time here. As we navigate through November 26, 2025, a heavy rain warning is still doing its thing across the entire Fiji Group. You might want to rethink your outdoor plans, unless you’re looking to take an unexpected swim!

In fact, we’ve rolled out a flash flood warning for all those low-lying and flood-prone areas. So, if your front yard starts looking like a scene from “Finding Nemo,” remember, you’re not alone!

What’s the scoop with the weather? There’s a moody trough of low pressure hanging out above us, and it’s not budging. That means we’ve got a great chance of occasional, if not persistent, heavy rain and the possibility of some dramatic thunder in most places. Just a heads up—localized heavy falls may transform our picturesque valleys into rivers, so if you see water rising, it’s best to paddle away!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow: expect rain, lots of rain. And maybe a flash of lightning! But don’t worry, that rain will be easing into more of a light shower situation from tomorrow onward, so we might finally see some sunlight peeking through!

As for the winds, expect a moderate to fresh breeze from the northwest to southeast, and the seas? Well, they are feeling a bit combative and moderate to rough, so maybe no snorkeling for a while.

Here’s a look at the outlook for Friday:
– Over Vanua Levu, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are coming your way.
– Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups will see some cloudy periods and a few showers.
– For the rest of us, it should be fine aside from some afternoon or evening sprinkles, perfect weather for a cozy indoor day!

Now, let’s break it down by area, because who doesn’t love a little weather-specific drama?

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Prepare for heavy rain and a few thunderclaps, but fear not, it will ease to just showers soon!
Tomorrow’s temps: Min 24, Max 28.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Yep, more of that heavy rain and thunder action. But relief is on the way tomorrow!
Tomorrow’s temps: Min 23, Max 29.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: The heavy rain continues to party, but showers are on the horizon tomorrow!

Tomorrow’s temps: Min 23, Max 29.

For Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, and Lal and Lomaiviti: It’s the same symphony of rain and thunder. It’s like nature’s remix!
Tomorrow’s temps: Min 23/24, Max 27/28.

For Kadavu: You guessed it, heavy rain now hand-off to showers!
Tomorrow’s temps: Min 23, Max 27.

For Rotuma: A heavy rain warning and strong wind alert are in effect. Seas are looking rough, so batten down the hatches!

That’s your weather report, Fiji! If you’re thinking about venturing outside, maybe check if your trusty umbrella is made out of lead—just to be safe! Stay dry, and we’ll catch you on the flip side!
