A heavy rain warning has been issued for the Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and nearby islands, including the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. According to the Fiji weather office, a trough of low pressure is currently situated over the region.

They anticipate that the associated cloud cover and rain will affect these areas until late tomorrow as the trough gradually weakens. The forecast indicates that rain will be heavy at times, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms in these regions. Following this period, the rain is expected to ease into lighter showers.

In other areas, occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms may occur, with the possibility of localized heavy rainfall.

Despite the impending weather challenges, the rain can have positive effects, such as replenishing water supplies and nourishing the soil for local agriculture. It’s always crucial for residents to stay informed about weather updates and take appropriate precautions to safeguard themselves and their property.

This heavy rain alert serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of weather patterns and the importance of preparation in mitigating potential effects.
